My boyfriend and I have been together nearly two years, and living together six months. It's been the best time of my life and I thought he was my dream man - romantic, affectionate, cute, intelligent, funny etc etc. We clicked so well right from the start. When we first moved in it was so natural and comfortable and I've not felt more like I had a 'home' since I was a kid. We started talking about marriage and kids and buying a home. Life was perfect. Then, a couple of months ago, all the skeletons started coming out of the closet. One by one I have found out: * He cheated on me for the first two months of our relationship * He lied numerous times about seeing other women as “friends” (I am told) in the first 6 months * He used to have a drug addiction * He has been addicted to porn (used every day for years before we moved in even when we were together and I am scared this has never been not resolved) * He has large debts and gambling issues Worst of all, he seems to be a compulsive liar, and almost all of the above I only got him to admit to after putting hard evidence in front of him. He lies constantly about things both large and small and our trust has completely deteriorated. Every time I find something out he breaks down and begs for understanding until I forgive him, but I'm worried that things can never be the same as they were. I love him so much and can't imagine my life without him and yet my self esteem has deteriorated to a point where I feel paranoid and worthless. I blame myself repeatedly for his actions. I have recently told him that he has to get counseling for lying and for addictions if we are to have any chance of surviving. He says he is eager to do whatever it takes. But I worry we will never be able to get past these things and they will haunt us forever. I'm also scared that if I leave him, I will always mourn the 'one that got away'. Despite the awful things I mentioned, he really has been the love of my life and I know he loves me so much as well. Most of our problems are in the past but the lying has meant we are dealing with it in the here and now. Am I crazy for giving this another chance? Can I really expect all these problems to go away or am I doomed for a life of this if I stay with him?
